Sync Method
Shipping events trigger in real-time from Hykmah order and job workflows — when an order is marked ready to ship, a label generation request fires to the connected carrier API immediately. Tracking status updates sync on a polling schedule (default: every 30 minutes) as carriers update delivery milestones. Delivery confirmation events sync in real-time via webhook where the carrier supports it.
Authentication
FedEx uses OAuth2. Australia Post, StarTrack, eParcel, Carton Cloud, TNT, Aramex, and DHL use API key authentication configured during setup with your carrier business account credentials. All credentials are encrypted at rest using AES-256. Carrier sandbox environments are available for testing before go-live.
Data Mapping
Standard mappings cover: shipment details (weight, dimensions, service type), sender and recipient addresses, label output format, tracking numbers, and delivery status codes. Carrier-specific fields (e.g. Australia Post product codes, FedEx service types, DHL account numbers) are configured during setup. Address validation runs against carrier requirements before label generation to prevent failed shipments.
Rate Calculation
Live carrier rate APIs are supported for Australia Post, FedEx, DHL, and Aramex — rates are calculated at checkout or order creation based on destination, package dimensions, weight, and selected service level. Rates are cached for configurable intervals to reduce API call volume during high traffic periods.
Error Handling
Failed label generation requests are flagged immediately in the Hykmah order view with the carrier error code and reason. No label is printed on failure — the order remains in a pending state for manual resolution. Tracking sync failures are retried automatically. Users receive notifications for persistent carrier API errors or rate limit breaches.
